You may have recently seen a new television advert, launched on ITV, featuring a new cartoon called Workie; a very large animated monster.
Created by the Department of Working Pensions and the Pensions Regulator, Workie, is by their words ‘a striking physical embodiment of the workplace pension, who will be seen visiting people in all sorts of work environments over the coming months, asking them not to ignore him.’
Questions will no doubt be raised over whether an animated monster campaign is the best way to encourage employers to take action, or whether it just ends up as a bit of fun for our younger TV viewers. Either way the point of the advert still strikes home – if you are an employer, and have not yet organised your workplace pension, you need to start the process.
