Weather forecasts from The Met Office and BBC Weather are warning of ‘torrential thunderstorms’ for the southern half of the UK on Thursday 31st May and Friday 1st June 2018.
The Met Office has issued amber and yellow weather warnings across the South with a potential 30-40mm of rain falling in an hour. With such high levels of unseasonal rain predicted the risk of flash flooding is high.
Over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend Britain was hit by thousands of lightning strikes, whilst flooding across the midlands caused havoc as a month’s rain fell in just an hour.
5.2 million homes and businesses in England are at risk of flooding! Of those 5.2 million, less than 10% think they are at risk and even fewer have plans about how to respond if a flood hit.
The Met Office has this advice for anyone concerned they might be at risk:
Don’t hesitate to contact MRIB Group if you’d like to discuss flood cover with us or if you’d like to check what’s covered by your current policies.
